ItsDeductible Is Gone: 7 Alternatives Compared (2026)
Looking for an ItsDeductible alternative? We compare 7 donation tracker apps plus a spreadsheet on price, subscriptions, data storage and TurboTax export.

If you used ItsDeductible for years, you need a new home for your donation records. This guide is for people who itemize, give goods all year, and want a plain answer. We compare seven ItsDeductible alternative apps, plus a spreadsheet and our own tool, on price, subscriptions, where your data lives, and tax software export.
Quick answer
- ItsDeductible shut down on October 21, 2025. Intuit gave users about eight weeks' notice.
- Most replacements are web or phone apps that charge $20 to $30 a year.
- If you want no subscription, look at DeductIt (lifetime license), ItemizeIQ (free), or DonationLedger (one-time $49, runs on your PC).
- If you want to snap photos on your phone, look at DeductIt, DeductAble or ItsDeducted.
- Whatever you pick, make sure it exports a TXF file if you use TurboTax Desktop, or a CSV or PDF for H&R Block or a preparer.
What happened to ItsDeductible
Intuit emailed ItsDeductible users around August 26, 2025. The message said the service would be discontinued on October 21, 2025. Users had until then to export their donation history as a CSV file.
Many people on the Intuit community forum were upset. The notice was short. The export only covered donations, not the list of charities.
This was the second time. Intuit tried to close ItsDeductible once before and backed off after complaints. This time it stuck. An Intuit reply on the forum called a replacement "possible" but gave "no guarantee."
If you still have your CSV export, keep it. Several tools below can read it. We cover the details in what to do with your ItsDeductible data.
ItsDeductible alternative comparison table
Prices were checked in late August 2026. They can change, so confirm on each site before you buy.
| Tool | Runs where | Price | Subscription? | Data stored | Exports to TurboTax/H&R Block |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deductible Duck | Web browser | $29.99/year | Yes | Company's cloud | TXF, CSV, PDF, HTML, Form 8283 worksheet |
| Charity Record | Web browser | Free up to $500 tracked; $29.99/year unlimited | Yes | Company's cloud | CSV (free); TXF, PDF, HTML (paid) |
| ItsDeducted | Web, Android app | Free up to $750 tracked; $29/year Pro | Yes | Company's cloud | TXF (free); PDF, Excel (Pro) |
| DeductIt | iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android | Free core app; $7.99/year or $29.99 lifetime (Supporter); $14.99/year or $59.99 lifetime (Pro) | Optional | On your device, works offline | TXF, CSV, PDF, ZIP |
| DeductAble | iPhone, web | Free tier; $19.99/year premium | Yes | Company's cloud | TXF, CSV |
| ItemizeIQ | iPhone, iPad, Mac | Free | No | On your device, iCloud sync | CSV only |
| H&R Block DeductionPro | Inside H&R Block Deluxe, Premium, Self-Employed | Included with those products | With H&R Block | H&R Block's system | Fills your H&R Block return directly |
| Spreadsheet | Any computer or phone | Free | No | Your own file | CSV; manual entry into tax software |
| DonationLedger | Windows 10/11 desktop | One-time $49 (Early Access preview is free) | No | Your own PC | TXF, CSV, Form 8283 worksheet |
Three notes on the table. TXF files only import into TurboTax Desktop, not TurboTax Online. "Company's cloud" means your records sit on the vendor's servers. And a free tier with a dollar cap runs out fast. One car load of furniture can pass $500.
The seven apps, one by one
Deductible Duck
Deductible Duck is a web app that looks and works a lot like the old ItsDeductible. It tracks items, cash, stock and mileage. It imports the old ItsDeductible CSV and exports TXF, CSV, PDF and HTML reports. The published price is $29.99 per year. Some third-party listings mention a free tier; confirm on the official pricing page before you count on it. There is no phone app, so you use it in a browser.
Charity Record
Charity Record is also web-based. It tracks seven kinds of gifts, including vehicles and art, and has a value guide of about 1,800 items. The free plan stops at $500 of tracked donations and only exports CSV. The $29.99-per-year plan adds TXF, PDF and HTML. It imports ItsDeductible CSV or XLSX files. One caution: the 30-day refund is void once you generate a premium export.
ItsDeducted
ItsDeducted leans on photos. You take a picture of your donation pile, and the app tries to name and value the items. The free plan covers up to $750 of tracked value and includes TXF export. Pro is $29 a year and adds PDF reports, Excel export and list import. There is an Android app and a web version.
DeductIt
DeductIt is a phone app from Foothill AI for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. It works offline and stores data on your device. It has a fair-market-value guide, receipt photos, an IRS charity lookup, and ItsDeductible CSV import. The core app is free. Paid tiers unlock photos and family sharing, and both come as a lifetime option: $29.99 for Supporter, $59.99 for Pro. It exports TXF, CSV and PDF.
DeductAble
DeductAble is an iPhone and web app built around AI logging. You can type, talk or snap a photo, and it matches items to a value list. It has a free tier and a $19.99-per-year premium plan. It exports TXF and CSV and imports ItsDeductible data. Android is not clearly supported.
ItemizeIQ
ItemizeIQ is a small, free app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It logs cash, items and mileage, stores receipt photos, and syncs through iCloud. It imports and exports CSV only, so there is no TXF for TurboTax. It fits if you keep simple records and type totals into your tax software by hand. It is new, with only a couple of reviews so far.
H&R Block DeductionPro
DeductionPro is not a year-round tracker. It is a valuation tool inside H&R Block Deluxe, Premium and Self-Employed. At filing time you pick items, set condition and quantity, and it puts the total on your return. It does nothing in June when you drop off a box at Goodwill.
The spreadsheet option
A spreadsheet costs nothing and never shuts down. You need a column for date, charity, item, condition, quantity, value and receipt. You look up values yourself using the Goodwill or Salvation Army guides. It works, but it takes discipline. We built a free template in our donation tracker spreadsheet guide.
How to choose
Scenario 1: You want the cheapest option
Say you donate a few bags of clothes a year and your total stays under $500. Charity Record's free plan may be enough. If you go over that, ItemizeIQ is free with no cap, but you must be on Apple devices and enter totals into your tax software by hand. A spreadsheet is free on anything.
Scenario 2: You want no subscription and no cloud
Say you are tired of $30 a year and do not want your records on someone's server. DeductIt's lifetime license keeps data on your phone. DonationLedger keeps it on your Windows PC for a one-time $49. Both work without an internet connection. A spreadsheet also qualifies here.
Scenario 3: You want to take photos on your phone
Say you clean out a closet, and you want to snap the pile and the receipt on the spot. DeductIt, DeductAble and ItsDeducted all do this from a phone. ItsDeducted and DeductAble try to name and value the items from the photo. Check the guess before you accept it.
How to move from ItsDeductible in five steps
- Find your ItsDeductible CSV export. Search your Downloads folder for a file with "ItsDeductible" or "donations" in the name.
- Open it once in a spreadsheet to confirm the years and totals look right. Save a backup copy.
- Pick a tool from the table above. Look first at export format, then price, then where the data lives.
- Import the CSV into the new tool. Spot-check five or six items against the old file.
- Add your 2026 donations as they happen. Attach receipts. Do not wait for April.
Two tax rules that affect your choice
The IRS wants a Form 8283 when your noncash gifts for the year total more than $500. Items or groups of similar items over $5,000 need a written appraisal. A tool that builds a Form 8283 worksheet saves time here. See Form 8283 explained.
Clothing and household items must be in "good used condition or better" to count, per the IRS Form 8283 instructions. Any tool you choose should let you record condition. For 2026 the charitable mileage rate stays at 14 cents per mile, so a mileage log still matters.
Starting with the 2026 tax year, itemizers can only deduct charitable gifts above 0.5% of adjusted gross income. Non-itemizers get a deduction of up to $1,000 single or $2,000 joint, for cash gifts only. Good records matter more under these rules.
Where DonationLedger fits
DonationLedger is a Windows 10/11 desktop program from our team at AirTiki ApS. It is for people who want their records on their own PC, with a one-time $49 price and no subscription. It tracks items with a built-in FMV guide, cash gifts and mileage, stores receipt photos, and produces a year-end summary and Form 8283 worksheet. It exports TXF for TurboTax Desktop and CSV for H&R Block or a preparer, and it imports the ItsDeductible CSV. It is not for you if you want a phone app or a Mac program. Right now it is a free Early Access preview that shows the core screens and lets you join the waitlist. The full version launches for the 2025-tax-year filing season, and preview users get a launch discount. Download the free preview or see pricing.
Frequently asked questions
What happened to ItsDeductible?
Intuit told users in late August 2025 that it was shutting ItsDeductible down. The website and app stopped working on October 21, 2025. Your old records are only safe if you exported them before that date.
Is there a free ItsDeductible alternative?
Yes. ItemizeIQ is free on iPhone and Mac. Charity Record and ItsDeducted have free tiers with a cap on tracked value. DeductIt has a free core version. A spreadsheet is also free, but you value each item yourself.
Which ItsDeductible replacement exports to TurboTax?
Charity Record, Deductible Duck, ItsDeducted, DeductAble, DeductIt and DonationLedger all make TXF files. TXF is what TurboTax Desktop imports. TurboTax Online does not import TXF, so check which version you use.
Do I have to pay a subscription to track donations now?
No. DeductIt sells a lifetime license, ItemizeIQ is free, and DonationLedger is a one-time $49 purchase. A spreadsheet costs nothing. Most web apps, though, charge about $20 to $30 per year.
Can I still get my old ItsDeductible data?
Not from Intuit. The site is gone. If you saved the CSV export before the shutdown, several tools can import it, including Charity Record, Deductible Duck, DeductIt, ItemizeIQ and DonationLedger.
Next step
Pick one tool this week and load your old CSV into it. Then log your next Goodwill run the same day you make it. If you are unsure how to price the items, read how to value donated items.
